A journey through the particularities of Opera of Leon Battista Alberti
The opera of Leon Battista Alberti is presented through a journey of photographs
exalting fundamental characteristics of the work of this genius, artist,
and idealist of the Renaissance.
The Perspective:
The composition and assemblage of the photos offer the possibility to
enjoy a perspective viewing. For example, when looking at the photograph
of Palazzo Rucellai, the Loggia of Rucullai and the Temple, one gets the
impression of seizing the piece in its whole almost as if "going around
it".
Choice of materials:
The photos put even the most minimum particulars to light, the aspect
and the color of the stone (Palazzo Rucella), or the multicoloured play
on the marble (Temple), make it seem as though you are there in person
observing.
Correspondence between the external and internal environments:
The photographs frequently show courtyards and loggias. Alberti took particular
care in the correspondence of the various types of environments in a way
that they represent a sole solution of continuity; a global vision is
derived with the particularity of the small sign of a grand project.
Focus on particularities:
Coats of arms, decorations, etc make the journey of observing varied and
invite those who look, to pose attention on aspects that might often not
be taken into the right consideration. These decorations, in fact, put
us in direct contact with the commercial activity of the Rucellai family
and, in general, with the Florentine environment of the period.
